Shave your cacao

Take 20–30g of your kakao.guru block and shave or chop it into thin pieces using a sharp knife. The smaller the pieces, the faster and smoother it melts. This is your first moment of mindfulness — slow, intentional movement.

Tip: Keep your block at room temperature. Cold cacao is harder to shave and melts unevenly.

Heat your liquid

Warm 200–250ml of oat milk, almond milk, or water to around 70°C — hot, but not boiling. Boiling water can slightly alter the flavour compounds in cacao. Oat milk adds a natural sweetness that complements the earthy cacao beautifully.

Tip: Oat milk is our favourite pairing. Its natural sweetness balances cacao's bitterness without added sugar.

Blend until frothy

Add the shaved cacao to your warm liquid and blend for 30–45 seconds, or whisk vigorously until fully combined and frothy. The fat in cacao (cacao butter) emulsifies with the liquid creating a rich, smooth texture — like a fine hot chocolate, but without any sugar.

Tip: A small milk frother works perfectly and creates a beautiful foam on top.

Before you drink — pause. Hold your cup with both hands, close your eyes, and set one intention for the day. What do you want to bring into this day? This simple act transforms a morning drink into a genuine ritual. Drink slowly. Let the theobromine rise gently.

Optional additions: A pinch of cinnamon, cayenne, or cardamom can deepen the flavour. Try one at a time to find your preference.
